Could a Cambridge English class be entertaining?
I have been asked to share my experience as a CAE student in ELC Sydney.
As a teacher myself, having already followed a FCE Cambridge class in London a few years ago and having also attending other language classes to learn German as well, I am a good person to ask for an opinion.
I have to say that this Cambridge course in ELC was the best language course I have ever attended. Not only for the fun that we had with our teacher in class, but also the professionalism and the quality of our lessons, which were very practical and entertaining.
The first day we arrived in the class we didn’t know each other and the first thing that our teacher told us was that one of the only ways to really succeed and make the best of these 3 months would be to function as a team and since then all our efforts have been focused toward this goal.
We’ve learned so much about grammar, passive, indirect speech, phrasal verbs and much more but on top of that we did it with a lot of fun.
We felt guided and supported. I just find it sad that our teacher couldn’t be with us while we were waiting for our speaking exam, we probably would have felt more relaxed.
Additionally, the school team has been amazing, starting with reception who welcomes you every morning with a warm smile. The activities coordinator who makes himself always available and organises a lot of activities and all the other teachers are very friendly and enthusiastic.
And of course this class couldn’t have been so great without the people in it, my wonderful classmates with whom I have built a special relationship.
So I suppose that anyone could have a great time attending a Cambridge class in ELC and the school is there, willing to help, but I guess the right recipe is after all a team effort between the teacher and his class, certainly a lot of commitment and a lot of humour.
And I can say that my experience has been really successful. Thanks to all.
